Culland group
Sutton-on-the-Hill Women's Institutes is part of the Culland group of W.I.s The other institues in the group are Braislford, Cubley, Kirk Langley, Longford, Marston Montgomery, Norbury & Roston and Osmaston.
There are 2 group meetings each year, one in the Spring and one in the autumn, with good speakers and wonderful food.
There is also a group carol service, usually held in the afternoon of the first Sunday in December.
Each member W.I. takes its turn to organise a group meeting and the carol service.
Derbyshire Federation
The Federation organises 2 Federation meetings a year with nationally known speakers, such as Edwina Currie, Prue Leith, Michael Portillo; John Snow, Julie Summers ........
The Spring meeting is always in the north of the county at The Winding Wheel in Chesterfield.
The autumn meeting is always in Derby. With the Assembly Rooms no longer available, the Federation has tried several other venues.
The Federation also organises an annual County Quiz, where every W.I. has the possibility of sending one or more teams of 4 to participate.
Other activities are organised by the Federation, some at their headquarters in Derby, and some elsewhere in the county. There is also a Federation weekend at Denman College each year, open to members from all over Derbyshire.

NFWI - the National Federation of Women's Institutes
The NFWI is responsible for editing the monthly W.I. Life magazine that all W.I. members receive, and organises an AGM in June each year.
The AGM will be in Brighton this year.

Denman College
The W.I. has its very own residential college, near Abingdon, where members can go singly or in a group for courses to learn new skills. These courses may last just one day or for 3 or 4 days.
