Monthly Meeting Report.
14th. November 2016
Sutton-on-the-Hill WI members were making preparations for the Christmas Season when Andrea Banbury demonstrated the craft of making Greeting Cards. After explaining how she achieved her alternative cards, Andrea provided a quantity of card, decorative ribbons and stickers all acquired cheaply or recycled and invited members to choose from the various materials to make a card for themselves. Marie-Christine Appleby thanked Andrea for the inspiration that she had given Members and what enjoyment it was to make your own unique card.
Vivien Tiano, President reminded members of recent enjoyable events and forth-coming ones. Volunteers were requested for a Sub-Committee to help plan a future Programme. It was also suggested that a member might like to help provide a Brick, in any medium, illustrating something of local interest to be included in the new Derbyshire Federations' Wall Hanging. It was agreed to hold a Tea-Party to support a Dementia Charity at some future date. The Culland Group Carol Service hosted by Osmaston WI would take place on 4th. December ar Edlaston. Parish Church. The next meeting would be a Christmas Party with the Supper provided by Members.

Sutton-on-the-Hill W.I. members were introduced to the art of Book-Folding when Alyson Horton demonstrated. how to make attractive articles.such as imitation flower vases, flowers and animal shapes. Alyson gave members instructions on folding a recycled paperback, and they set about folding the pages to end-up with a simple Hedgehog shape, which they were able to decorate with buttons to form eyes and snout. Everybody had an attractive Hedgehog to take home after their efforts. Alyson was thanked by Shirley Loveridge for her helpful instructions.
Jean Jagger Vice-President told members of forth-coming events, particularly a fund raising Supper on 20.03.2017. Several members would be attending the Spring Council Meeting at Chesterfield on 04.03.2017.
